FROM DIRT TO DISCOVERY

Concrete Cardinal was born out of a love for community building, stemming from my 25 year career and commitment in Real Estate and Development. Concrete Cardinal is passionate about how people live, not just where people live (that matters too though). There’s a lot more to construction than digging in the dirt. In fact, there’s a lot of discovery to be made in observing how people live in what we build. That was in fact the part of “building” that I was most curious about.
With a strong community building background rooted in Sociology, I use a unique biopsychosocial lens, seeking to understand the quality of experiences people have in different places, even within themselves.
In the past, I used to point at buildings with a sense of pride, knowing that I was part of building that. Then I realized that for the most part, they were places where no one knew each other's names (and elevator rides were long and silent). Where community was the last thing people felt (and lobby furniture sat idle, untouched and unblemished).
Today, I want to build something different. I want to create community. I want to architect acceptance. I want to engineer engagement. I want to scaffold support. And I want to build belonging. I want to see people feeling at home - with their space, with each other and with themselves. I want to proudly point to THAT, and know that I played even a small part of it.
